A true rookie card. Long before my shift toward realism, my work lived in free association, spontaneity, and intuition. This piece marks a distinct era in my evolution as an artist. Its mix of text and improvisatory, stylized figures captures the way I was making images at that time. Although my process has grown more refined and efficient over the years, there’s a quality in this early work that I’ll forever chase — something raw and essential that I’ll be lucky to preserve.
