Commission for Henry Lewis

SF tattoo artist/painter Henry Lewis commissioned me to add a piece to his ongoing collection of mocking bird/jawbone paintings.  This is not the best photo of the painting, but it’s all i could get before I handed it over to Henry.

Coma and Cotton collaboration released!

I’m excited to see some ladies rockin’ the T shirt I made with SF clothing designer, Kevin Scott Hailey.  I drew a herd of sheep running.  It’s part of the Spring 2009 collection, so available very soon.  Kevin is the man behind the curtain of Coma and Cotton.

Here’s a slideshow of the entire Spring 2009 collection:

Fantasy Place goes Public!

My good buddies back home in SC revisited Fantasy Place for a good cause today.  The original structure was constructed to house a WBC show that coincided with “Rap N’ Roast” back in January at Prok Haus.  Artists/Friends, Charlie Mcalister and John Pundt got alot of the cardboard from my stepdad’s furniture store in Mount Pleasant, Stuckey Brothers Furniture.  Good job, brothers!

Collector featured in Charleston Magazine

Friend and collector, Terry Fox’s home is featured in the 2009 Arts issue of Charleston Magazine.  Terry has been buying my work  for a while now and has been very supportive of my career from the beginning.  I’m glad to see that he and his collection are getting recognized.  It’s people like Terry that help artists like me feel that maybe they’re doing the right thing after all.  Thanks, Terry!

My First Death Metal Album Cover

San Francisco mysterios AmocomA called on me to bring the darkness to their debut release “Go To Hell”.  The album was released (April 2009) through SF’s beloved Aquarius Records and tUMULt.  It’s a wonderful record, really and I’m glad to be associated with this supernova project.  Here’s a link where you can snag a copy and/or sample a few tracks.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Spring Tour Merch

I’ve just recently completed a slew of designs for Oakland, CA band Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and their upcoming spring tour.  If you get the chance, go see them and buy some merch!.  They do an incredible live show and are a great bunch of folks.  I’m very fortunate to be associated with such talent.  Below are some of images of the stuff I made.

Feature on Daily Candy

Email newsletter Daily Candy chose the event at Belljar as a weekend favorite in San Francisco.  Check it out!

PORTRAYALS

I’m in a show at Mina Dresden gallery that is thematically based on portraits.  If you know my work, you know that I don’t really paint people very often.  I took this opportunity to have a little fun and bring some looseness back into the act of painting.

Artist Statement for PORTRAYALS

With my work for Portrayals, I took advantage of the theme induced opportunity to explore subject matter and styles atypical of my previous body of work.  I found myself indulgent in the liberation.  Audiences familiar with my work,  know me as a painter of less human entities and I would only hope that they find this exploration refreshing, playful and synonymous of the artistic spirit.  Though only a temporary departure from my MO, I found it permanently therapuetic.
