Thanks to Crystal Lew and her grandmother I boiled my first batch of peanuts in California today.  I’d been looking for some raw peanuts for awhile, and had pretty much given up hope until I met Crystal and discovered that Chinese people love boiled peanuts just as much as southerners!  She told me how her grandmother (who doesn’t speak a lick of English), made them all the time.  Next thing I knew, she surprised me with a huge bag of the suckers - raw and ready to boil!!!  Anyway, they’re on the stove as I’m writing this entry.  Now I just gotta call the San Francisco Southern Society as well as all the globule of friends who’ve never had nor heard of ‘em and have a party!  Actually, we’re taking them to the Castro Theatre tonight as we revel in 80’s Glam Sci-Fi Fantasy via “The Beastmaster”  ….YeeeeeeHaaaawww!
