I’ve done a couple limited edition prints with UK based Fine Grime and they’ve been scouring them around Europe.  Here’s a showing at Galeria Vidrart in Spain.  Wish I could make it!

Ruby Skye and Rophenol

Last night, John and his wife Jessica Trippe from Fecal Face visited and interviewed me at my studio.  They arrived at 8pm and were there until 12:30am drinking beers and eating chips and salsa. We interluded the session by meandering downstairs into SF’s legendary dance club, Ruby Skye where there was some crazy halloween ball. I’ve become friendly with Jasmine, the day manager (she was dressed in a cat costume), granted us back door access to the VIP event.  They had filled the club with live trees and sod just for the occasion. FF got video me saying “welcome to my studio” betwixt a Stormtrooper and Princess Leah.

Inside the club, we pondered the scene.  Besides the many ridiculously overboard costumes, we saw a girl we suspected had been given Rophenol. Moments later, we saw her outside on the steps being guarded over by the security staff.  They were telling these guys who were swarming around her like flies to “move away from the lady”.

Safely back in the studio, John filmed me performing some Death Cheetah and talking at length about my art and all sorts of other stuff, including the south and the time I bit off my tongue.

‘Round about midnight, Jasmine brought up bottles of fancy water for all of us.

John took pictures of me having a convo with the cat lady in front of my paintings.

I bought a bottle of water from the corner store when i got home

- it tasted pooey.

Stay tuned for the upcoming Fecal Face post.  For now, a shot from our foray into Ruby Skye.

Zebra

I painted this zebra about 2 months ago and it’s had been hanging on the wall in this state…

zebra

I knew all along that I wanted to make it more interesting than just a zebra walking in water, but wasn’t sure exactly what direction to go with it.  After a couple different exploratory sketches done sporadically over a 3 week period, I settled on the idea of a female figure reclining on the zebra’s back.  That led to this preliminary sketch…

pleasing ride

This also took care of the fact that I wasn’t completely happy with the curve of the zebra’s back – it looked a little lengthy to me.  Adding the figure let me modify the misshapen backbone.  Using the sketch as a guide, I set out to complete the piece…

shewolf

stay tuned for the final result.

Fourbarrel Coffee Mug

San Francisco coffee house, Four Barrel asked me to make a drawing for their signature coffee mug.  They should be ready in 3-4 weeks, but here’s a look at the image.  As you can see, Jeremy has quite a sense of humor and wanted “a unicorn with a 4-leaf clover in it’s mouth”.
